Chris Murchison, M.Ed.

Vice President, Staff Development, Learning & Innovation

Chris Murchison is Vice President of Staff Development, Learning & Innovation (SDLI) at HopeLab. He is responsible for cultivating and supporting an agency culture that values learning, innovation and informed, strategic risk taking. As Vice President for SDLI, Chris ensures that HopeLab’s benefits, compensation and policies are respectful of employees and promote learning and innovation. He is responsible for the cultivation of an agency culture that values innovation and supports the development of innovative solutions that enhance the health and quality of life of young people with chronic illness.

Chris is a human resources professional with over 15 years experience in the public and private sectors. From 2000 to 2004, he was with Charles Schwab Corporation in San Francisco, where he was Director of Talent Management and Development after first serving as Senior Manager, Schwab Technology Education. His experience also includes 10 years at the University of California, Berkeley, where he was Academic Program Coordinator from 1991 to 1996 and Manager of the Staff Internship Program from 1996 to 2000. Chris was Director of the Residential Leadership/First-Year Program at St. Lawrence University from 1988 to 1991.

Chris was a member of the San Francisco AIDS Foundation Board of Directors from 1997 to 2003, serving as Vice Chair from 1999 to 2001. He received his B.A., with honors, in Biology from Earlham College in 1985 and his M.Ed. Higher Education and Student Affairs Administration, with honors, from the University of Vermont in 1988.
